I went home for the funeral for the father of one of my high school friends, who was also a pillar of the church. Despite getting to the church early, I still had to park a fair distance down the road. It was a bit surreal to think that the last time I saw my friend in that church (I think) was for her wedding.
Amid a crowded sanctuary, I tried to reconnect names and faces; it was a bit difficult with the passage of intervening years and complicated by the fact that people weren't sitting where they usually would be sitting. I felt rather self-conscious about handing out business cards during the reception, but it was the easiest way to pass along my contact info to those who want to know.
